Reading in the Early Years
Reading in the Early Years
We want to instil a love of reading for all children and prioritise opportunities to read books throughout the day. Stories allow us to engage our imaginations, consider how others may feel, explore and learn new vocabulary and practice spoken language.

Early Years Book list
At Pinvin Community Preschool we have chosen a selection of ‘Core Books’ for children in the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage). These books are a mixture of classics and exciting new books across a range of styles and genres. During their time in the EYFS children will get to know these books inside out. This will help them use stories, language, characters and ideas as part of their role play, creative work, story-telling and mark making.
We will be adding audio/video recordings of these books throughout the term.
We hope you will enjoy sharing these with your children.
